My first Omega watch

Omega watch is one of my favorite brand and Speedmaster model is very interesting. Actually I admire Speedmaster Snoopy model, my friend has it and I’ve a chance to try one. It’s really great watch, herritage and full of story. The problem is the price that is gone crazy, I decide to grab Undone Snoopy watch instead at that time, it’s sucha fun watch but of course, there is nothing come close to Omega.

Couple years later I started seeking to get an Omega with limited budget So I was searching for Speedmaster Reduced or Date instead coz they are in my arm length due to its age. Reduced model is great but I’ve heard that it may cost a lot for maintance and glass is not Sapphire so Mk40 Date model seems to be a better choice for me.

After continue searching, I found that Speedmaster MK40 (40 millimetres stainless steel case size) is really nice, comes with stadard Speedmaster case and function. Thickness is reasonable at almost 14 mm and a lug to lug dimension is around 45 mm.

For 3513 model, it should have 2 version; White or Black dial. I normally like the black dial as other watches I’ve but not for this one. ฺ The white dial is exremely attractive to me, anyway it’s not that really white, a bit silver white and it’s covered by Sapphire glass. The playful red (and black) hands is outstanding and contrast to dial’s colour. Such a good detail, you can even see it’s echoed in the center of chornograph and featuring highly stylized tritium Arabic numbers and black hour/minute hands also have a tritium for glowing in the dark. Anyway it’s aged, so it’s not that shine when I try in the night.

Tachymeter bezel with black, it’s not flat as you can find on the moon watch, it’s sloped and inclined to match the curve sapphire glass. There is also a window aperture for the date on 3 o’clock and a watch does include a quick set system so you can rapidly cycle the date.

The back case does not show the machanic inside but it’s automatic winding with Calibre 1152 which is 7750 specially decoreated and upgraded to Omega specification. It has all of the underlying features such as toughness efficient undirectional winding. Also approximately 46 hours power reserve in this application. The watch is 100 meter water resistant but since it’s produced in 1995–1997, I won’t try it hard in the water, splash should be fine.

Bracelet is vintage and handsome piece, it features the double tough pin sleeve juction system for sizing and fitting links. Internally there is a slider, a single release system and you can see the Omega logo on partition point. As tried, I don’t have a problem when wearing it but the slider system is not familiar to me.

All in, it’s great vintage Omega watch. With the bright white dial and those small red hands, Speedmaster moon watch style, it’s one of my favorite watch for dressing for sure. I’m not sure what is the price tag, since it’s more than 20 years. I got this from Japan watch website with reasonable price around 200,000 Yen (almost $2,000), unfortunately it came only a watch. Since it’s an old watch and many sellers from other places, if you are interested, you have to put your eyes in detail about its condition and appearance, I still believe in the quote buy the seller coz it help me a lot and have not failed me.
